There has been a lot of buzz about God of War here lately, but who is the God of War? Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve surely heard about Santa Monica Studio’s latest God of War release for the PlayStation 4. Critics and gamers alike agree that the game is a hit. Outstanding reviews and being the top selling game of April helped solidify this fact.
But who is the God of War? Those of you who may not have played the God of War series may be wondering who that powdery white hero is. Kratos made his first debut on the PlayStation 2 way back in 2005 and God of War quickly became one of Sony’s flagship titles. Batting the Titans and Olympian Gods Kratos quickly gained millions of fans across the world.
Kratos makes an appearance in seven games as well as four game remasters. Players usually control Kratos from a third person point of view. The games usually feature traditional hack and slash type combat while also combining platforming and puzzle elements as well. God of War Betrayal is the only game in the series that features 2D side scrolling gameplay. Kratos’s typical weapon of choice are the double chained blades which appear throughout the series in three different iterations. These are the Blades of Athena, the Blades of Exile, and the Blades of Chaos. In the latest instalment in the God of War franchise Kratos puts down his double chained blades, instead opting for a magical battle axe called the Leviathan Axe.
So who is the God of War? Why Playstation King Kratos of course.
