Sunset Overdrive is a brand new up and coming exclusive title for the Xbox One. Being developed by Insomniac Games, it can only be described as a strange merge between Jet Set Radio Future and Dead Rising.
In Sunset Overdrive players can combine a large variety of wacky weapons, costumes and attack moves to take out enemies in the city the game is based in. The game is an open world third person shooter title, and as we can expect from a new Xbox One title, the world is expected to be fairly large.
The basis of the story focuses on FizzCo employees that have been sent out to clean up the city after a new FizzCo energy drink has turned humans who have consumed it into dangerous and aggressive monsters.
Sunset Overdrive has now been confirmed to have gone gold, which means the full base game is now out of development and has gone into the manufacturing and production stage.
Sunset Overdrive has been set for release on October 28th, at which point players will be able to pick up the standard copy of the game or the game bundled with a brand new white Xbox One.
Like many games in the modern day, a season pass will be released alongside Sunset Overdrive that can be used to gain access to all of the planned DLC expected to release over the following year.
Whilst Sunset Overdrive may not be a mind-blowingly new gaming experience, it certainly looks like a lot of fun, and I could see it taking many hours of my life away upon it’s release later this month. Hopefully Insomniac Games have managed to keep Sunset Overdrive as enjoyable as the teasers and gameplay footage portrayed it to be.
For those unaware, Sunset Overdrive is an exclusive for Microsoft, and will only be available on the Xbox One.
