Resident Evil Remake Could Be Heading to Next Gen Consoles

If you speak to any fan of the Resident Evil series, I think that they’ll agree with you if you ask them whether the older games were better than the most recent ones. Many Resident Evil players feel as if the quality of the games went downhill after Resident Evil 4, and if recent rumors are to be believed, Capcom may have realized this by now too, and they may be looking to take a new approach with the next Resident Evil game.

Allegedly, the next game in the Resident Evil series will be a remake of an older title in the franchise, perhaps of Resident Evil 0, or the GameCube Resident Evil remake.

The Resident Evil remake rumors come from a range of tweets from Ahsan Rasheed, a fairly well known industry insider and reputable source for video game leaks. Rasheed mentioned that those who had a “GameCube in 2002” will be pleased, and that the Resident Evil remake, which Rasheed has specifically nicknamed “Rebirth,” will be released at some point in 2015. For those unaware, the name REbirth was also given to the GameCube remake of the first Resident Evil title, so it seems as if Rasheed is pointing at that particular game more than any others.

So far, we’re not quite sure how likely these new rumors are to be true, and whilst Rasheed has been right in the past, with many things like this, it’s best to take this new information with a grain of salt.

Interestingly, Rasheed did mention that information on the Resident Evil remake will be released very soon – could this mean we could expect to hear something from Capcom about the alleged new Resident Evil game at Gamescom this month?

For those interested, Rasheed also mentioned that the new Resident Evil remake will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
