It’s been confirmed that Fallout 4 will have a major presence at GamesCom 2015 in August this year which no doubt means even more information and gameplay is coming very soon. GamesCom is set in Cologne, Germany and is one of the biggest gaming conventions in the world so it only makes sense that Bethesda is having a presentation dedicated to Fallout 4. However there has been no comment yet on whether or not other upcoming Bethesda games such as Doom will also have presentations.
Since it’s official announcement at the E3 Bethesda press conference, Fallout 4 has had a lot of media attention and the information about the game has so far been plentiful including several trailers and in-depth looks at certain areas within Fallout 4 such as crafting or settlement building. Fans are hoping to receive even more information and gameplay for specific areas such as combat and dialogue.
The combat is due to be changed quite a bit or VATS has been at least; instead of stopping time it will instead be slowed meaning targets you’re aiming at will still be moving and the percentage chance of hitting a target will change as the enemy continues to move.
Dialogue may also be changing a bit for Fallout 4 considering this is the first speaking player character in the series. Earlier this week it was revealed that the voice actors recorded over 13,000 lines of dialogue over 2 years for the development of the game and that’s just for the male or female protagonist.
Later this month at Bethesda’s own QuakeCon, Fallout 4 is also set to make an appearance. Fans are expecting this presentation to be similar to the massive gameplay reveal for The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim back in 2011 and if this is correct then we’ll be seeing more gameplay and features of the game over the next few weeks.
For those who cannot make it to QuakeCon for the potentially exclusive more detailed look at Fallout 4 it will no doubt be uploaded to Youtube either by attendees or Bethesda themselves. There has been no mention of a potential livestream of the presentation sadly which could mean those not attending will need to wait until GamesCon for the information.
On top of the combat and dialogue hopefully Bethesda will be showing off the open world of Fallout 4 more in the coming weeks at the conventions, especially the size of it. So far we know that the world is of a similar size to Skyrim, or at least that’s what the developers are saying since they aren’t entirely certain how much bigger the world is. However we do know that the lead producer Jeff Gardiner said at E3 that he’d probably played around 400 hours of the game and still hadn’t seen everything.
On top of the massive world size, the cities for Fallout 4 have been confirmed to have no loading screens which will add to the level of immersion with the huge world that Bethesda has created.
Despite what we already know about Fallout 4 there is still plenty of news to come and hopefully the conventions over the next few weeks will share more information about the game and display more gameplay.
Fallout 4 is due for release November 10th for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. Those who preorder the game will also receive a digital copy of Fallout 3 for free.
