Yesterday on a livestream from Mortal Kombat X developer, NetherRealm Studios showed off some gameplay of the latest DLC character. Tremor first appeared in Mortal Kombat: Special Forces back in 2000 but Mortal Kombat X is his first fully playable appearance. The livestream showed of his abilities, brutalities and of course, fatalities.
This wasn’t the only thing the livestream did however. There was no official announcement made however the livestream did end with a reference to Tremor being the end of “Kombat Pack 1” which was previously only referred to as “Kombat Pack”. Not really much of an announcement but it certainly hints that we’ll be seeing more characters coming to Mortal Kombat X at some point.
Mortal Kombat X has also seen the addition of new characters who aren’t even in the series such as Friday 13’s Jason Voorhees, Freddy Kruger from the Nightmare on Elm Street series and even Predator. The new additions are certainly fresh and great to have but they certainly leave it open as to what we can expect from future character DLC for Mortal Kombat X.
No doubt all fans want to see the return of characters from previous games such as a playable Fujin, Jade or Nightwolf however there are plenty of other possibilities. Mortal Kombat X is being published by Warner Bros Entertainment and taking that into consideration opens the door to even more potential characters from all kinds of series the publisher has the rights to.
There’s plenty of characters from other franchises that would be perfect in a Mortal Kombat X game but we’ll need to wait and see if any ‘extras’ are revealed as future DLC for Mortal Kombat X.
Tremor is supposed to be the final addition to the Mortal Kombat Pack season pass however with the livestream yesterday and a tweet from series creator Ed Boon saying “Kombat Pack Final? Fighter” there have certainly been hints from the developers at NetherRealm Studios he will not be the final DLC character.
If Tremor is the final character addition for the Mortal Kombat Pack season pass then another pack is almost certain; currently the amount of fans calling for certain characters is extremely high and NetherRealm Studios could make a good amount of money from more DLC characters while keeping fans very happy.
Tremor is available as part of the Kombat Pack DLC pass, season pass if you will, and all players with the pass is able to download him now. For those players without a pass you’ll need to wait an extra week to purchase him next week; you can buy him alone or spend a bit more for the Tremor Bundle which includes the Klassic Skins Pack 2.
The Klassic Skins Pack 2 adds new skins for Quan Chi, Jax and Kung Lao; the pack can be purchased separately to Tremor if you’re not interested in adding the new fighter to your roster. The pack is available to buy now and there is also a free DLC available for download called the Klass Fatalities Pack 2 adding four new fatalities for Mileena, Kitana, Kung Lao and Jax.
Mortal Kombat X is available for purchase on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC right now with a version for the PS3 and Xbox 360 due for release over the next few months. There is also a free mobile version of the game available for Android and iOS.
